The Resility Effect

Seven Principles for Thriving in an Age of Unrelenting Change

Resilience alone won't save you. Neither will adaptability. Josh Davies combines the steadiness of one with the forward motion of the other, and gives you seven principles you can start practicing tomorrow.

Available in Kindle, paperback, and hardcover · Foreword by Amy Van Dyken, 6-time Olympic gold medalist
Why this book, why now

The world won't slow down. You can stop needing it to.

Change isn't slowing down, and the strategies we've always relied on can no longer keep pace. Blockbuster held its ground and disappeared. WeWork reinvented itself into bankruptcy.

Holding firm isn't enough. Moving fast isn't enough. What works is knowing which is which.

Resilience

The strength to stand firm. Taken alone, it can harden into a cage that keeps you loyal to a playbook the world has moved past.

+

Adaptability

The willingness to change. Taken alone, it becomes motion without a map: constant pivots that never add up to progress.

= Resility

Stability that moves. Hold fast to what matters, change what needs changing, and keep moving forward.

The framework

The Seven Resility Principles

Each principle is a skill, not a personality trait. You can build it, practice it, and lean on it the next time disruption shows up. The book pairs them with a self-assessment and a ninety-day plan so they stick.

The Resility Principles wheel: Control, Competence, Confidence, Connection, Character, Courage, Curation
BUILD

Competence

Focus beats frenzy.

Go deep on the skills that matter instead of chasing every new tool and trend.

TRUST

Confidence

Earned, not borrowed.

Real confidence comes from evidence you've built, not a performance you put on.

SUPPORT

Connection

Links to people and purpose.

Communication isn't connection. Build the relationships that hold when pressure hits.

LEARN

Character

Own what went wrong.

Pressure reveals who you are. Accountability turns setbacks into lessons.

MOVE

Courage

From knowing to doing.

Comfort is the hidden threat. Courage closes the gap between insight and action.

CLARIFY

Curation

Permission to say no.

The discipline of ignoring things, so your attention goes where it counts.

PROTECT

Control

Urgency isn't importance.

Run your day before it runs you. Protect the time that moves the work forward.
